SCBC Students Win Multiple Awardsat the National College Business Elite Challenge International Trade Competition
From May 21 to 25, the national finals of the 2026 National College Business Elite Challenge International Trade Competition (International Trade Business Simulation Track) successfully concluded in Ningbo, Zhejiang. In this premier competition bringing together the nation's top business talents, SCBC's faculty and student team stood out among hundreds of participating teams nationwide, drawing on their solid professional foundation, outstanding practical skills, and seamless teamwork. They won two national first prizes and one national second prize, within structor Yin Xueyan earning a national first prize in the teacher category.
Co-hosted by the Commercial Industry Committee of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), the Commercial Industry Chamber of the China Chamber of International Commerce (CCOIC), and the China Society of Commercial Economics, this competition is a national Class A academic contest recognized by the Ministry of Education. It is also the only international trade competition in the country listed in the “National Ranking of College Student Competitions.”
SCBC Taekwondo and Chinese Chess Teams Achieve Outstanding Results at the 2026 Provincial University Championships
From May 28 to June 2, the 2026 Guangdong Provincial University Taekwondo Championships successfully concluded at Sun Yat-sen University (Shenzhen Campus). SCBC students delivered outstanding performances across both high-level provincial competitions. Notably, Guo Jie claimed first place in the women’s under-58kg individual event in Group A of the Taekwondo competition, while Liu Ziyu and Lu Weijia demonstrated excellent teamwork to secure second place in the mixed doubles freestyle poomsae event in Group A. In the Chinese Chess competition, Xu Yi won all seven of her matches to dominate the women’s individual division, and our university’s Chinese Chess team also placed fifth in the team competition.
Guiyang University Visits SCBC to Discuss Cooperation and Development
On the morning of June 3, a delegation led by Huang Ying, Secretary of the Party committee, Guiyang University, visited SCBC to hold the inaugural inter-institutional exchange symposium. Zhang Hanlin, Executive President of SCBC, and Zhu Zijang, Assistant to the President, attended the meeting. Also present were Wu Xinling, Director of the Office of Discipline Development; Ding Songbin, Dean of the School of Aviation Economics and Engineering; Weng Lin, Vice Dean of the School of Education; and Luo Huiming, Deputy Director of the Office of Academic Affairs.
Representatives from both universities engaged in thorough discussions and can did exchanges regarding inter-university cooperation across multiple fields, fostering a warm and cordial atmosphere. Leveraging the distinctive disciplinary resources of both institutions, the parties focused on the strengths of the School of Computer Science, the School of Aviation Economics and Engineering, and the School of Education, actively exploring diversified and long-term exchange and cooperation mechanisms. Regarding talent cultivation and discipline development, both parties expressed a desire for in-depth cooperation. They preliminarily explored the implementation of tiered faculty and student exchange programs spanning undergraduate and graduate levels, planning to build upon undergraduate exchanges as a foundation to foster talent exchange for master’s and doctoral programs. They also look forward to jointly establishing a master’s training base, implementing a dual-university joint supervision model, and promoting the shared development of engineering faculty. These initiatives aim to address faculty shortages in disciplines such as aviation and new engineering disciplines, thereby supporting the quality enhancement and upgrading of our university’s School of Aviation Economics and Engineering.
SCBC Faculty and Students Earn Multiple Honors in Guangzhou’s Mental Health Committee Member Awards
Recently, the results of the 2026 Third Guangzhou Mental Health Committee Member Awards—jointly organized by the Regional Center for Mental Health Education and Counseling of Universities in Guangdong Province and the Higher Education Psychological Counseling Committee of the Guangzhou Psychological Society—were announced. SCBC faculty member Mai Sudan was named Outstanding Advisor to Mental Health Committee Members, a case study authored by Kong Huixian was selected as a Municipal Model Case, and Lu Xiaoqi, a student in Class 1 of the 2024 Spanish Language Program at the School of Western Languages, was named one of the Top 100 Mental Health Committee Members. Together, our faculty and students secured three municipal-level honors.
SCBC Holds Meeting to Approve Revised Draft of Professional Title Evaluation Criteria
On the afternoon of June 3, the first meeting of 2026 for the University’s Ninth Academic Committee was held in Room 309 of the Administration Building. Committee members reviewed and voted to approve the “Criteria for Professional Title Evaluation (Revised Draft).” The meeting was chaired by Professor Wang Hua, Chair of the Academic Committeeand President of SCBC. All Academic Committee members were in attendance, while Assistant to the President Yu Weibin, Human Resources Office Head Dai Weihuang, and relevant Human Resources Office staff attended as observers.
The meeting focused on reviewing the university’s “Criteria for Professional Title Evaluation (Revised Draft).” Adhering to the principles of rigor, pragmatism, objectivity, and fairness, Academic Committee members conducted a meticulous, item-by-item review of the document, focusing on core elements such as evaluation orientation, performance standards, and categorized evaluation. Members engaged in active discussion, exchanging specific revision suggestions and optimization proposals. The meeting proceeded strictly in accordance with established procedures to conduct a vote and formulate formal review opinions.
SCBC Students Win Multiple Awardsat the “Lingnan Cup” English Writing Competition
Recently, the list of winners forthe 12th Guangdong Province “Lingnan Cup ‘Building Green Dreams’ English Writing Competition” was officially announced. The competition brought together students from nearly 70 universities across the province. SCBC students performed exceptionally well in this event. Hu Jinghao, a 2025 German major (25th Minority Languages Innovation Class, Advisor: Shi Yitong), won the “Golden Pen Award” and a provincial third prize. Huang Qihua, a 2025 Spanish major (25th Minority Languages Innovation Class, Advisor: Shi Yitong), Zhou Ziting (Class of 2023, Accounting (Intelligent Accounting), 23rd English Innovation Class), Yang Shiyu (Class of 2024, Japanese, 24th Minority Languages Innovation Class), and He Siyao (Class of 2025, Chinese Language and Literature (Creative Writing), 25th English Innovation Class; Advisor: Deng Cuiting) were awarded Provincial Third Prizes.
SCBC Teachers Co-draft Code of Cross-Border E-Commerce Supply Chain Management
Recently, the group standard “Code of Cross-Border E-Commerce Supply Chain Management”(Standard No.: T/CATIS 034—2026), proposed and administered by the China Association of Trade in Services, was officially published on the National Group Standard Information Platform and will take effect on August 1, 2026. As one of the drafting units, SCBC was deeply involved in the development of this standard. Associate Professor Yu Fengying, Dean of the School of Western Languages and Cultures at SCBC, was selected as one of the principal drafters of the standard.
SCBC Achieves Outstanding Results in Guangdong Province’s School Intangible Cultural Heritage Project Exchange and Exhibition
Recently, the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education officially announced the list ofwinners for the province-wide School Intangible Cultural Heritage Project Exchange and Exhibition. Two entries submitted by SCBC stood out from the field: the teaching research-category intangible cultural heritage work “Aesthetic Education as the Path, Walking Toward the Light—Intangible Cultural Heritage +Aesthetic Education: Building a New Path for Rural Cultural Revitalization” (Jin Shasha, Huang Shuyue, and Cao Jin, School of Education) won Second Prize, and the performance-based intangible cultural heritage work “Intangible Cultural Heritage HanMusic—Guangdong Han Music Chinese Zither Piece Dan Dian Tou Luan Cha Hua” (Yang Xiaoming, School of Arts) won Third Prize.
SCBC Students Achieve Outstanding Results at the 13th “Alliance Cup” Undergraduate English Writing Competition of Guangdong Province
On the morning of June 6, the finals and awards ceremony of the 13th “Alliance Cup” Undergraduate English Writing Competition of Guangdong Province were successfully held at Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University. Professor Zhang Guangkui, Vice Dean of the School of English Language and Culture at SCBC, and Associate Professor Wang Ruiying, Director of the Department of College English Teaching, were invited to attend the finals and awards ceremony as guest judges.
The competition was highly competitive and wide-reaching, with 256 finalists from 59 universities across the province emerging from a pool of 140,000 participants in the preliminary rounds. The Department of College English Teaching at our university selected outstanding students to compete, ultimately winning one Grand Prize and four Third Prizes, while students from the School of English Language and Culture won a Second Prize.
The competition was jointly organized by the Guangdong Provincial College English Teaching Steering Committee, the English Major Subcommittee of the Guangdong Provincial Undergraduate Foreign Language Majors Teaching Steering Committee, and the China University English Writing Teaching Alliance, and hosted by Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University.
SCBC Teacher Attends Academic Forum at South China Normal University and Delivers Keynote Presentation
From June 5 to 7, the Second Academic Forum on “Disciplinary, Academic, and Discourse Development in International Chinese Education in the New Era of Artificial Intelligence” was successfully held at South China Normal University. On the afternoon of June 6, Zheng Yi, a faculty member from the Department of Portuguese at our university, was invited to participate in the sub-forum on “Language Ontology, Second Language Acquisition, and Research in International Chinese Education,” where she delivered a keynote presentation titled “A Re-examination of Chinese Pseudo-Possessive Sentences Usingthe Tagging Algorithm.”
The forum was organized by the School of International Culture and the School of Chinese Teacher Education for Southeast Asia at South China Normal University, with the support of multiple universities and professional institutions. Set against the backdrop of the launch of the 15th Five-Year Plan and the national initiative to build a leading education powerhouse, the forum featured five major research sub-themes covering cutting-edge fields such as disciplinary framework development, digital and intelligent teaching empowerment, second language acquisition research, and cross-cultural discourse practice.
